Privacy policy

OpenBimmer is a free, open-source app published by Codext GmbH, Frankenstraße 10, 74549 Wolpertshausen, Germany (kontakt@codext.de). This policy explains what the app does with data. The short version: it does not collect anything.

No accounts, no analytics, no ads

The app has no user accounts, contains no analytics or advertising SDKs and does not send data to Codext GmbH or any third party. There is no server.

Data from your car

Live values, fault codes, the VIN and data logs are read from your car through your OBD adapter over Bluetooth and stay on your phone. Logs and performance results are stored locally in the app and are deleted when you delete them or uninstall the app. You decide whether to share a log, for example as a CSV file through the system share sheet.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is used only to find and talk to your OBD adapter. On Android the app does not use Bluetooth scanning to determine your location.

Location

If you choose GPS as the speed source in the performance timer, the app reads your speed from the location service while the timer is open. Location data is processed only on your device to calculate times and is never stored with coordinates or transmitted.

Links

Links to GitHub or online shops open in your browser. Those websites have their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Since we do not process personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Questions: kontakt@codext.de. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
